As part of our COVID-19 webinar response series, we invite you to join us for COVID-19 Vaccines: The Discovery Process and Road Ahead.

Please note this program is available in English only.

Date:
TBD (new date forthcoming)
Time: 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET
Where: Zoom Webinar (Online)
Cost: Free (registration is required to attend)

Presenters: Drs. Shehzad Iqbal and Victor Kramer
Moderator: Dr. Sindhu Johnson

Session Overview:

Many lessons can be taken from the development of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Currently approved SARS-CoV-2 vaccines represent novel vaccine platforms that have produced vaccines at an unprecedented pace. Describing vaccine development and the immunological principles underpinning these vaccines is vital in understanding how the vaccines and their deployment can be adapted to the changing epidemiological conditions of the pandemic. Foundational knowledge in this area will translate into awareness of research capability developing vaccines against viral variants and the need for booster immunizations in immunocompromised patients.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. articulate the immunology of vaccines
  2. understand the discovery process and scientific approach to vaccine development
  3. outline the next steps for vaccines, including their application to variants
CanMEDS Roles
  1. Communicator
  2. Scholar

Priority will be given to CRA members, AHPA members and invited guests.
